Hyundai Canada, CDK Global, Hyundai Capital Canada and PBS Systems joined forces to fight homelessness in Canada as 2023 wrapped up.

The four companies raised over $15,000 through the annual Hockey Helps the Homeless tournament. This money will go to people experiencing homelessness in the York, Ontario region.

This marks the first year Hyundai Canada has been involved with the hockey event, which is a national initiative that uses Canadians’ passion for hockey to raise awareness and financial support for the homeless.

All funds raised will go directly to nonprofits 360°kids and Blue Door.

“Thank you to our partners for joining us in this effort to support the community of York Region. Through our work with 360ºkids, our executive team has gained a new level of appreciation for the impact these organizations make on the lives of vulnerable community members,” says Kirk Merrett, director of human resources and administration of Hyundai Canada and board member at 360°kids, in a press release.  “Supporting the important work of 360°kids and Blue Door through hockey, a game that is close to many Canadians and is a core pillar for Hyundai in Canada, has been incredibly rewarding to our team members.”

The tournament has granted over $24 million to fight homelessness nationally so far, and the York region event has garnered $1.7 million by itself.

Hyundai Canada joined the event due to its long-standing philanthropic partnership with 360ºkids, an organization dedicated to preventing youth homelessness in York Region by giving youth skills and resources.

“We are delighted to join hands with Hyundai Canada and Hockey Helps the Homeless—a wonderful cause that brings positive change to our communities,” says Jen Cole, vice president of OEM business at CDK Global, in the press release. “CDK is proud to support this impactful collaboration, fostering a spirit of giving and making a meaningful difference together.”
