Automaker Execs Join NADA/IHS Forum Lineup
NEW YORK — It was announced Monday that joining the lineup of auto executives and analysts sharing their expertise at the NADA/IHS Global Insight Automotive Forum 2010 are James Lentz, president and chief operating officer of Toyota Motor Sales, USA, and Jim Farley, group vice president of global marketing and Canada, Mexico and South America operations for Ford.
Lentz and Farley will be a part of a panel discussions featuring top executives from manufacturers, including Stefan Jacoby, president and chief executive officer of Volkswagen Group of America; John Mendel, executive vice president of automotive sales for American Honda Motor Co.; and Jim O'Donnell, president of BMW of North America.
The manufacturer perspective panel will be moderated by Mike Jackson, chairman and CEO of AutoNation.
During the forum, which will be hosted by the New York International Auto Show on March 30, leading auto analysts and executives will discuss "Transformation of the U.S. Economy and the Auto Industry."
These industry leaders will look at how recent events will affect automotive stakeholders over the next decade. The forum's presentations and panels will examine how past events will shape the industry down the road from the perspectives of automakers, suppliers, retailers and media.
Delivering the forum's keynote address will be Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Fiat/Chrysler.
Offering a keynote speech on issues impacting the supplier industry will be James Kamsickas, president and CEO of International Automotive Components North America and Asia.
Continuing on, the suppliers' perspective panel will include Laurie Harbour, president of Harbour Results Inc., and John Weber, president and CEO of Remy International. This particular panel will be led by Neil DeKoker, president and CEO of the Original Suppliers Equipment Association.
Offering a generational presentation will be John Wolkonowicz, associate director of North American automotive research at IHS Global Insight.
Moving on, moderating the retailer perspective panel will be John Casesa, managing partner of Casesa Shapiro Group. Featured on the panel are Earl Hesterberg, CEO of Group 1 Automotive; Michelle Morris, automotive industry director at Google; Susan Scarola, CEO and president of DCH Auto Group; and Ed Tonkin, National Automobile Dealers Association chairman. Tonkin will also offer the forum's opening remarks earlier in the day.
Continuing on, Hesterberg will be the retail featured speaker, offering a presentation prior to the retail panel.
Additionally, Chip Perry, CEO of AutoTrader.com, will be presenting "Automotive Advertising: Leveraging the Internet as an 'Influencing Medium'" during lunch, which is hosted by his company.
Nariman Behravesh, chief economist of IHS, and George Magliano, director of automotive research, IHS Global Insight, will present "The Transformation of the U.S. Economy and the Auto Industry — The Big Picture."
There will also be a media panel discussion moderated by Alex Taylor, senior editor of Fortune, and featuring Paul Ingrassia, Pulitzer Prize winner and auto writer; John McElroy, auto journalist and host of Autoline Daily; Jason Stein, editor at Automotive News; and Joe White, senior editor at the Wall Street Journal.
Moreover, the forum will offer a preview of the New York International Auto Show from Brian Miller, chairman of the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association.
