TORONTO -

After giving up a few months to smaller models, the Ford F-150 reclaimed its spot as the most-appraised vehicle in Canada, according to the December TradeTracker Used Vehicle Market Report.

The F-150 was followed by the Honda Civic Sedan (No. 2) and the Toyota Corolla (No. 3).

In the November report, the Civic Sedan topped the list as the most-appraised vehicle in Canada, ousting the Corolla from the No. 1 spot.

The battle for the top three spots has included these three units for the majority of 2013.

And the F-150 came in as the most appraised vehicles for the whole year, as well.

Not surprisingly, in second place for all of 2013 was the Civic Sedan, followed by the Corolla.

These reports are provided monthly to Auto Remarketing Canada and are a result of Dealertrack Technologies' Trade Tracker solution, which is an online, trade-in evaluation tool that allows dealerships to create instant, accurate appraisals and gain insight into their used-car business.

Rounding out the top five for most appraised vehicles in December were Mazda3 and Dodge Grand Caravan, respectively.

The report also breaks down the vehicles by market, as follows:

  • The top domestic vehicle appraised by domestic dealers was the F-150.
  • The top import vehicle appraised by import dealers was the Civic Sedan.
  • The top domestic vehicle appraised by import dealers was the Ford Focus.
  • The top import vehicle appraised by domestic dealers was the Mazda3.

The Mazda3 showed up in the top five vehicles appraised overall in Canada multiple times in 2013.

The report also narrows down the top vehicles being looked at by trade-in owners.

Within this group, the top domestic vehicle looked at by domestic owners was once again the F-150.

For import owners, the top import vehicle looked at was the Corolla.

And when it comes to domestics, import owners looked at the Ford Escape the most in October.

Lastly, the top import vehicle looked at by domestic owners was the Hyundai Elantra.

The TradeTracker reports also include a Brand of the Month section, which highlights appraisal trends by an individual brand each month.

The brand highlighted in December was Hyundai.

The top three vehicles looked at by trade-in customers at Hyundai dealerships were the Elantra, Santa Fe Sport and the Tucson.

The top three off-make vehicles appraised by Hyundai dealers were the Mazda3, Focus, and Civic Sedan.
